Contact Us : who we are
Updated April 3, 2011
Jasper Environmental Association is an environmental organization independently monitoring management of Jasper National Park in Canada’s Rocky Mountains. Polls have consistently shown that the vast majority of visitors come to the parks to reconnect with nature and Parks Canada’s first priority under the National Parks Act is the protection of that nature. However, the parks are chronically under-funded by the federal government. Now, Parks – heavily lobbied by local business interests – wants to increase visitation by introducing new activities and events which could adversely affect the wildlife and wilderness character of the park.
Our aim
To support Parks Canada in administering Jasper National Park in accordance with Canadian legislation, Parks Canada principles and policies and the wishes of the Canadian public.
Funding
We are funded through membership subscription fees of $5.00 annually. We welcome new members and donations but because of our advocacy role we do not have charitable status and therefore cannot issue tax-deductible receipts.
